The South West Coast is Oahu's secluded, dry region. Bring plenty of sunscreen and water. You will find a couple of good surfing beaches, surrounded by small Polynesian communities. Surf tends to be high in this area during the summer months. Beware of Box Jellyfish that swarm ashore 7-11 days after a full moon. At any beach in Hawaii, obey warning signs, ask lifeguards about ocean conditions, keep your eye on the surf, and if you have any doubt, stay out!

	Ewa Beach Park Clean, seldom crowded beach. One of the most sunny spots on Oahu. Bring water and sunscreen. Abrupt dropoff not far offshore.

	Nimitz Beach Less crowded beach. Fair swimming due to shallow coral reefs. Great for those learning to surf.
