The Hawaiian Islands are fantastic for stargazing. Specifically on Maui, Haleakala provides a view of 90 percent of the celestial bodies that can be seen from Earth. The Pacific Ocean provides the perfect, dark black backdrop and stable air to make the stars appear crisper and more detailed to the naked eye. Hawaii's latitude, about 120 degrees south of the continental U.S., makes part of the southern hemisphere's skies viewable, providing a different perspective than most of us are accustomed to.
